Setting Goals and Actually Keeping Them!
So you have set your goals and decided where to focus your time, energy, and budget…. what now? Action steps of course. So much easier said then done. We can lay out our action steps and put them on paper. We can plan and schedule ourselves a week out, a month out, even a year out. Why is it then after a month or two we feel so far off from our planned path we planned out so beautifully? Something comes up. Ran out of time. Had a fire to put out that took priority. We miss a few actions steps because a change of course at the last minute was needed. This list could go on forever. There is always something. Did you plan for the always something? Most likely you did not. Here is where we often fall short. There will always be something that causes a detour. When we plan for detours and can quickly adjust we are less likely to get so far off our path. The trick is staying close enough so that the path is always in view. Isn’t theory great! It is always in the research and trial and error stage that things get tricky. My one tip for this is to actually plan and schedule time to revisit your goals, your plan, and readjust your path. By doing this often you stay close enough that your path is in view and it gives you the “planned” time for the something that always come up. So how often is often enough? I have found once a week to be the bare minimum. To be the most successful you really should have a planned 10-15 minute appointment set aside everyday to simply check in and report back (even if it is only to yourself) on the status of your journey along your path. Stay close in view of that goal, revisit it often, and schedule the time for it. Investment of time is so often overlooked and under valued. Sit down today and invest your time into your success. You are so worth it!
